Brad R. Cook is the author of historical fantasy, and award-winning short stories. He began as a playwright, dipped into the corporate writing world, and served as co-publisher and acquisitions editor for Blank Slate Press. More about me…

I had the honor of serving as President of St. Louis Writers Guild from 2011 to 2014. Founded in 1920, the nonprofit organization has remained one of the Midwest's preeminent literary guilds. A member since 2006, I encourage any writer to seek out their local literary groups. I have been historian of St. Louis Writers Guild since 2007.

I'm proud to have played a role in:

Writers in the Park - a free to attend writers festival held annually in Kirkwood Park from 2010-2016. In 2020 it returned as Writers in the Lodge and continues to be a huge success.

The Legacy Project - a several year project to research SLWG history and famous members who emerged from its ranks. My novel started in this research, then I went much further, but it wouldn’t exist without this project.

Young Writers Awards - a writing contest for young writers that began in 2012 and continues to this day. Now it is a collection you can purchase - The Young Writers Collection by St. Louis Writers Guild.

Gateway to Publishing Conference and Convention, Gateway Con - 2017-2019 - a writers conference and book fair held annually at the Renaissance Hotel across from the airport.

Many thanks to the Interns, Board Members, and Volunteers who made the project and the writers guild a tremendous success!

Ok, a Few More Things…

I love swords and know how to use them, I started Fencing when I was 13 years old.

I think R2D2 is the real hero of Star Wars
